"The cash" refers to a bank account where you keep the liquid money, in cash, and acts like an indicator of how the portfolio is working.
IMAP gives you the possibility of managing multiple cashes and use different currencies.
WHAT TO INPUT IN THE CASH?

First you need to setup a base currency in the Cash section that will act as the main currency of the portfolio. Once you have setup all the currencies, you will only need to follow some simple steps to use them through the Cash Movements section.
Basically, you need to input this information:

-
Adjustments, like for example the amount of money or deposits that you start with at the beginning of your journey.
-
Inputs and Withdraws of deposits.
-
Buys and Sells of any kind of product (not tranfers of funds).
-
Dividends, Rights Sales, and Interests received from any product.
-
Tax Returns and Tax Payments.
-
Financial Expenses like advisory and special brokerage services (remember that we already input brokerage and bank fees when we input the movement).
-
Top Ups and Withdraws, to and from you cash account.
-
Deductions, as for example donations.
-
Other movements that affect to your cash balance.

It is recommend that you to have a specific account in your bank to make all the movements related to your cash. In this way, it will be easy to manage this information.

CLASIFICATION OF MOVEMENTS

After choosing the type (Input or Output), you must specify the Cash Flow of the movement, having the following options:
-
Variable, a movement related to a share or to a variable fund, for example, buying a share or getting dividend from a variable fund.
- Fixed, a movement related to a bond or to a fixed fund, for example, the sale of a fixed fund or a coupon from a bond.
-
Liquid, a movement that only affects to the cash and is not directly related to any product (shares, bonds, and funds), for example interests from cash or a tax return transfer.
Then it comes the Category field, a classification of the movement that will allow IMAP to organize the data and to make another calculations. You have to choose among a list of predefined options.
Next, in the description field you can write anything you want to identify the movement and to help you access it and consult it.
After that you need to imput the amounts. As you can manage different cash currencies, you have available two different amount fields (Total and Total ß), being the former for the currency of the movement and the later for the base currency.
RETENTION

If the movement has a related retention amount (for example a cash interest or a deduction), you must input it in the "Ret. ß" field. This information is used to calculate costs.
To control if you have input correctly the data in this field, there is an alert in the Data Setup section that will warn you if there is any mistake. You can have more information about this in the Data management in IMAP guide.
RECONCILE THE MOVEMENTS

Finally, to keep you on track with the real movements in your bank account, there is a field where you will be able to specify individually if a movement has been reconciliated. Those movements that are not reconciled are outlined in blue (by default all new ones).
